Charlotte James Connolly’s Ladies v Atlanta NaFinna May 30 2009

May 30th, 2009 marked a milestone for Charlotte James Connolly’s Ladies Team.  After playing two matches last year against the ladies of Atlanta NaFinna and losing the first by a mere point
and drawing in the second game, the Charlotte ladies team took control of the match from the very beginning.  Points and goals quickly started adding up.  The hand passing movement
was crisp and allowed the ladies to quickly move the ball up the pitch.  By the end of the first half, Charlotte had built up a 2-6 v. 0-4 lead.

Bill Carrol continued to drive home the point of staying aggressive and playing a “high percentage ball.”  He reminded the ladies that NaFinna had come back many a time in the second half
and was determined not to have a repeat performance.  Right off the bat, NaFinna put in a goal; however, Charlotte countered right back with a goal of their own.  The defenders
held their ground and were constantly shutting down NaFinna’s full forwards.  By the end of the match, the Charlotte ladies team compiled an astounding 5-13 v. 2-6 against NaFinna.  Bill Carrol and his ladies team were clearly happy with their first victory over NaFinna but as any coach would do, he stressed the importance of improving on the wides and decreasing that percentage as the season moves forward.  Overall, an excellent start to their season with many high hopes down the line.
